Local SEO Perth

Local SEO in Perth, built to win the map pack, not just a page two ranking

You do not lose local search in Perth because your website is bad. You lose it because the three results sitting above the organic listings, the map pack, are owned by someone who took Google Business Profile seriously and you did not.

The map pack, and the organic results below it.
You can win one and lose the other. We treat them as two jobs, because they are. Local SEO work targets the map pack, and the organic side sits under our broader Perth SEO work.

Ranking levers

What actually moves the map pack

Local ranking is not one score. Several signals feed it separately, across your profile, your reviews and your site.

The levers we work, in the order they usually pay:

+
proximity, which you cannot fake, so the service area has to be honest
+
review velocity and replies, not just the total count
+
real photos of your own work, added on a schedule
+
suburb and service pages that carry genuine detail
+
citations that agree with each other, name, address and phone

Done together, the profile stops being a listing and starts being the thing that wins the call.

The profile

Google Business Profile is the asset, and it is rarely finished

Storefront or service area

Setup is the first thing we check. Getting storefront versus service area wrong either suppresses your listing or exposes you to suspension risk, and almost nobody revisits the settings underneath it.

Kept active, not set once

We set it up correctly, then keep the profile active with posts, updated photos, service listings and Q and A, because a profile that changes outperforms one that sits still.

The gaps we find on
Perth profiles.

The same gaps come up on almost every Perth profile we audit.
What we look for:
a primary category that is wrong or too broad, Contractor where it should be Roofing Contractor
an empty services list, and empty products
a business description written like a brochure rather than the terms people search
opening hours untouched since setup, public holidays included
photos that stopped in the year the profile was created
no posts and no Q and A, a profile that sits still

Why reviews matter
commercially

Volume, recency and the rating itself feed map pack rankings, and they decide who gets the call once you are visible.
So we build the ask into the job:
+
a short review link
+
a QR code where it makes sense
+
a request that goes out while the work is still fresh
+
a rhythm, so reviews keep arriving instead of landing in one burst
+
replies written, because prospects read them
What we will not do is generate reviews you did not earn.
Google filters them, and the fall afterwards is worse than never having ranked.

What we actually do on a local engagement

Three workstreams, run together. Most Perth businesses are only doing the first one, and only halfway.

The reviews

Reviews turned into a rhythm rather than a one off push, so recency keeps working for you.

Citations

Citations and NAP consistency, the boring work that quietly holds you back

A citation is any mention of your business name, address and phone number across the web:

+
directories
+
industry listings
+
association pages
+
local Perth business sites
+
the aggregators that feed data to other aggregators

When those mentions disagree, Google has less reason to be confident about your details than about a competitor whose details match everywhere.

Suburb targeting

Suburb targeting across Perth, done without spamming

What a location page must carry

Competing properly in the areas that actually matter to you means location pages with real substance:

+
jobs you have genuinely done in that area
+
specifics about how you service it
+
real photography
+
honest travel or callout information

Coverage without a fake address

For service area businesses we build the case for coverage through content and profile setup rather than pretending to have offices you do not have.

Fake addresses and virtual offices get profiles suspended, and a suspension can cost you months.

A report built only on Search Console can show you a flat month while your local pack visibility has climbed and your phone has been ringing more. It looks like nothing happened. Something did.
How we run it

How we run local SEO engagements

Why it never stays fixed

Local SEO is not a one off fix. Profiles drift, competitors get active, Google changes what it shows, and reviews go stale.

The first cycle is diagnostic and corrective. We:

+
audit the profile, categories, services and setup
+
map where you currently sit in the map pack across the suburbs that matter
+
check the citation landscape
+
fix what is actively hurting you
$1,000 inc GST
Where our SEO starts, per 4 week cycle, quoted to scope. We bill every 4 weeks rather than monthly.

What local SEO can include

Scoped to what your profile and your suburbs actually need:
primary category and service list rebuilt
service area or address configured the right way
hours, public holidays and photos kept current
profile posts, service listings and Q and A
citation audit, then correction of the records that matter
duplicate listings claimed or removed
old addresses from previous premises tracked down
map pack positions tracked by suburb, not as one number

Who this is for

Local SEO is the right lane if you are:
01
a Perth business customers come to, with an address to show
02
a service area business travelling to customers across the metro
03
ranking organically but invisible in the map pack above it
04
carrying a strong profile on a weak website
05
competing in a handful of suburbs, not the whole metro
06
sitting on a profile nobody maintains, or reviews that went quiet
Questions

Local search questions Perth businesses ask.

How long before I see my business in the map pack?+
It depends where you are starting. Profile fixes like a corrected primary category or a properly configured service area can move things within weeks, because you are correcting a signal Google was reading wrong. Citation cleanup and review building take longer to compound, usually a few months before the effect is clear. If you are in a dense category in central Perth against established competitors with hundreds of reviews, plan on a longer run. We will tell you honestly what the competitive picture looks like before you commit to anything.
Do I need a physical address to rank in local search?+
No, but you do need to be set up correctly. If customers come to your premises you show your address. If you travel to them you hide the address and define service areas instead. Both are legitimate and both can rank. What causes problems is a virtual office, a mailbox, or a friend's address used to look present in a suburb where you are not. Google actively looks for this, suspensions are hard to reverse, and we will not set you up that way.
Why does my ranking change depending on where I search from?+
Because proximity is a real ranking factor in the map pack. Your position genuinely differs between someone searching in Fremantle and someone searching the same words in Midland. That is why a single ranking number for a local term is close to meaningless, and why we track your positions across a grid of locations relevant to your service area instead. It also explains why checking your own ranking from your office gives you a flattering and misleading answer.
Can I get local SEO results without touching my website?+
Partly. Profile optimisation, review generation and citation work all move the map pack and none of them require site changes, so there is real progress available even on a website you cannot edit. But your site does feed local rankings, Google reads your location content and relevance, and the click from your listing lands on a page that either converts or does not. If your website is holding you back we will say so, and we build sites as well if that turns out to be the honest answer.
Should I be doing local SEO or Google Ads for local searches?+
They answer different questions. Ads buy you visibility immediately and stop the day you stop paying. Local SEO takes longer and compounds. If you need the phone ringing this month, ads are the faster lever, and we run that as a separate engagement. Running both is common, using ads while local visibility builds. We will give you a straight read on which is the better use of your budget for your situation rather than pushing the one that happens to suit us.
How will I know whether the local SEO work is actually working?+
We report on Google Business Profile performance, meaning calls, direction requests, website clicks and how people found your listing, alongside map pack positions tracked across the suburbs you care about. We pair that with Search Console and GA4 for the organic and on site picture. The profile data matters because local pack clicks and calls do not appear in Search Console, so reporting on Search Console alone hides a meaningful part of what local work produces.

growth areas

Local search rarely moves on its own. The profile, the site behind it and the paid coverage above it all feed each other.

These are the areas local SEO clients most often pair it with.
