SHOPIFY DEVELOPER PERTH

A Shopify developer in Perth who works inside the theme, not around it

If you are looking for a Shopify developer in Perth, the chances are you do not need a brand new store. You have one already, and it is fighting you. A section cannot be changed without breaking another page, an app has been bolted on and now every page loads slower, and the collection filters do not work on a phone.

Very little of it
is building
new stores.

What a Shopify developer actually does,
day to day.
Changing a store that already exists, without breaking the parts of it that work, is what decides whether an online store keeps up or slowly gets worse.
CLIENT RESULTS

Proof this works

Most weeks look like
this.

None of it is glamorous.
That means:
opening a theme, finding the one Liquid file that controls the thing you want changed, and changing it without breaking the other templates that include the same file
adding a section to the theme so your team can drop a new content block onto any page without asking us first
working out why a third party script is loading on every page in the store when it is only needed on two, and taking it off the rest
writing a metafield so the same shipping copy is pulled into every product page instead of being pasted into each one by hand
rebuilding a collection template so the filters are usable on a phone rather than technically present
fixing the cart drawer that stopped updating after an app update
reading order and product data straight out of the store to answer a question the dashboard will not answer, like which variant is quietly carrying a collection, or how much revenue is sitting behind a single out of stock size
THEME AND LIQUID

Theme development and Liquid, not another page builder

What Liquid lets you change

Shopify themes are written in Liquid, Shopify's own templating language. If you can write it, you can change almost anything about how a store renders, and you can do it inside the theme rather than on top of it.

Signal

Something can break
It versions with the theme
When you change theme
None of it comes with you and the pages have to be rebuilt from scratch
Still yours, even if we are not the ones maintaining it
We build in the current section based architecture instead: JSON templates, theme settings, metafields and metaobjects for structured content.
BEFORE WE QUOTE

What we read in the store before quoting anything

There is no price list for theme work, because the same brief can be a week or two months depending on how much of your current theme survives.

What we look at first, in the order it usually matters:

+
how much custom code has already been added to the theme
+
which sections are shared across templates, and what breaks with them
+
every app installed, and what each one loads on every page
+
whether content sits in metafields or is pasted into pages by hand
+
what the collection and product templates actually do on a phone
+
where every URL will move to if the store is being migrated

Then you get a fixed price for a defined scope, in writing, and a plain list of what sits outside it.

CUSTOM SECTIONS

Custom sections your team can use without ringing us

A section is only useful if the people running the store can edit it. The part that takes judgement is the guardrails: we constrain the choices to the ones that are on brand and cannot break the layout, and leave everything else fixed in the code, so nobody publishes a page with white text on a white background.
Every section we build exposes its settings in the Shopify theme editor:
headings
body copy
images with alt text
links
layout choices
background colour
whether the block shows at all
The practical result is that a seasonal campaign page becomes a job your team can do themselves instead of a quote from us. That is deliberate. We would rather sell you the work that needs a developer.

Apps, integrations, and knowing when not
to install one

Some things genuinely need an app.
The usual candidates:
+
reviews
+
subscriptions
+
bundles
+
loyalty
+
wishlists
+
back in stock alerts
+
shipping rate logic
+
inventory or accounting sync
When an app is genuinely needed we integrate it properly rather than leaving it looking like a stranger on the page: restyling its output to match your theme, loading its script only on the templates that need it, and checking what it does to page weight before and after.
Sometimes the honest answer is that you do not need the app. A small amount of Liquid, a metafield and a bit of JavaScript can replace a recurring subscription, and we will tell you when that is the case, including when it means less work for us.
For anything that has to talk to another system, we build against Shopify's Admin API and use Shopify Flow where a simple automation will do. If it needs to run on a schedule and be reliable, it should not be a person copying a spreadsheet.

What a Shopify engagement usually covers

Three streams of work. Most stores need two of them long before they need a rebuild.
01

The theme

Sections, templates and metafields written in Liquid, on a duplicated theme with a preview link, so nothing changes on the live store until you have seen it.
SEE ECOMMERCE WEB DESIGN
02

The migration

Planned as a search job before the switch, not after it, because moving platform changes every URL.
SEE ECOMMERCE SEO
03

The upkeep

Keeping a live store working after launch, on an ongoing basis rather than a new quote every time.

MIGRATION

Migrating onto Shopify without losing the traffic you already have

Signal
The data move
The search move
What it covers
Products, variants, options, images with their alt text, collections, customers, and order history where you actually need it in the new store
Title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, internal links, and rebuilt structured data
Where it comes from
WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix or a custom build
A crawl of the existing site and Search Console data, not memory
What it produces
The same catalogue inside Shopify
A complete redirect map from every old URL to its closest new one, because Shopify puts products under /products/ and collections under /collections/
A migration is two projects wearing one coat, and the search move is where they quietly cost money. We:
+
check the sitemap and robots file
+
keep analytics and Search Console continuous across the cutover
+
watch rankings and indexing for weeks afterwards rather than declaring victory on launch day
Because SEO and the build sit with the same person here, a migration is planned as a search job that happens to involve a platform change.
Not sure whether your Shopify theme is worth fixing or worth replacing?
ONGOING SUPPORT

Ongoing support after launch

Stores drift. Apps update, Shopify ships changes to themes and APIs, staff add products in ways nobody planned for, and the campaign page built for one promotion is still live in March. Ongoing Shopify support with us covers the steady work:
01
content and section changes
02
seasonal campaign pages
03
new templates
04
speed and Core Web Vitals work
05
bug fixes
06
checking the store still behaves after platform or app updates
There is no ticket queue and no account manager relaying messages. You talk to the person doing the work.
HOW WE WORK

How we work, and what it costs

Who actually does the work

We are a founder-led agency in Perth, Western Australia.

Harvie Williams
Design, web development and SEO
Kobi Martin
Paid advertising and conversion tracking

We are the ones doing the work. Nothing is passed to a junior or offshored, which is also why we are careful about how much we take on.

Fix, extend or replace

If you want a starting point, send us the store URL and tell us what is annoying you about it. We will look at the theme and tell you whether it needs fixing, extending or replacing, and we will say so even when the answer is smaller than you expected.

$1,000
including GST per four week cycle, where search is part of the engagement. Quoted to scope, and billed every four weeks rather than monthly.
Questions

Shopify questions Perth store owners ask.

Can I keep my existing Shopify theme, or do I need a full rebuild?+
Usually we can work with what you have. We start by reading the theme to see how it has been built and how much custom code has already been added to it. If the structure is sound, extending it is faster and cheaper than starting again. We will recommend a rebuild only when the theme is so patched that every new change carries a real risk of breaking something else, and we will show you what we found rather than just asserting it.
Do you customise the Shopify checkout?+
Checkout stays Shopify's, using their supported extension points. We do not hack it, because hacked checkouts break at the worst possible time.
Will my live store go down while the work is being done?+
No. We work on a duplicated theme that is not published, so your customers keep seeing the current store the entire time. You get a preview link to review the work in a real browser before anything is published. When you approve it, we publish, and we keep the previous theme version so we can roll straight back if something unexpected shows up.
How much does a Shopify developer in Perth cost?+
It depends entirely on the state of your theme, which is why we quote to scope rather than publishing a rate for development work. A single custom section is a small job. A migration with a full redirect map is not. We look at the store first, then give you a fixed price for a defined scope and tell you what sits outside it.
How much does the SEO cost after the build?+
For search work, our SEO starts from $1,000 including GST per four week cycle, billed every four weeks.
Can I move my WooCommerce store to Shopify without losing my Google rankings?+
That is the part of a migration we plan first. Your URLs will change, because Shopify uses its own structure for products and collections, so we build a complete redirect map from a crawl of your current site and from your Search Console data before anything is switched over. We carry across your titles, descriptions, headings, internal links and structured data, keep analytics continuous through the cutover, and monitor indexing and rankings for weeks afterwards. We will not promise zero movement, because no honest developer can, but a complete redirect map is what gives your rankings the best chance of carrying across.
Can my team still edit the site after it is built?+
Yes, and we build for that. Every section we add exposes its content in the standard Shopify theme editor, so your team can change copy, images, links and layout options without touching code. We deliberately lock the settings that would let someone break the design. If you would rather we handled changes, we can do that on an ongoing basis instead.
Do I need to be based in Perth?+
No. We are based in Perth, Western Australia, and Shopify work does not need us in the same room as you. Everything goes through preview links you can open yourself, wherever you are. If you are local and would rather talk in person, that is easy to arrange.
