Game Time Charters: a charter boat website, brief to live in six days

Game Time Charters is a family-run private charter business at Hillarys Boat Harbour in Perth, running Rottnest Island day trips and game fishing on their own 40-foot Black Watch. We rebuilt their Webflow site around one action, checking a date and booking, and had it live six days after we started.

The situation

Game Time Charters is a family business with over 30 years on the water. Gabriel and his family run private Rottnest Island day trips from Hillarys Boat Harbour and game fishing charters out of Perth and Jurien Bay, all on their own 40-foot Black Watch.
The old site told the story, but it was slow on a phone, which is where most charters get looked at. Google's mobile speed test scored the Hillarys page 36 out of 100 and took 9.4 seconds to show its main content.
The Rottnest season runs from October to late March, so the new site had to be live before the busy months, not halfway through them.

What we built

A 13 page Webflow site, built around one action: check a date and book.
Part of the site
The job it does
Booking bar
In the homepage hero: pick the trip, the date and the number of guests, then go straight to live availability.
Rottnest page
The price, the day and what is included, up front: from $3,600 for up to 8 passengers, $450 a head when you fill the boat, and a $500 deposit to secure the date.
Game fishing and Jurien Bay
One game fishing page covering both seasons, Perth from November to March and Jurien Bay from late March to the end of May, plus a new Jurien Bay page.
On a phone
A sticky Call and Check dates bar, a proper phone menu, and a gallery you can tap to enlarge.
Reviews
Their 13 Google reviews, word for word, with the 5.0 rating at the top of every page.
Every page was built on a hidden staging copy first, so Gabriel and his team could click through the real thing before anything changed on the live site. Their changes went straight in: the food on the fishing trips in their own words, new marlin, mahi mahi and tuna photos, and the boarding point moved to A Jetty, in front of Nautica Residences.
The search side was done before launch, not after. Titles, descriptions and structured data were written for every page, the old game fishing address forwards to the new one, and each page was checked at five screen widths, from a phone up to a laptop.

A charter gets booked on a phone, often by someone who has never stepped on the boat. The site has one job: get them from that looks fun to a date.

Source and method. Our build log, launch day checks, our own SEO tool's crawl and Google PageSpeed Insights (mobile lab test) for gametimecharters.com.au. The four main pages are home, Rottnest, game fishing and Hillarys. The old site was tested once on 08/10/2026 and the new site is the middle of three runs on 05/11/2026. Scores move from run to run.

About the search numbers

The new site went live on 14/10/2026, three weeks before this page was written. That is too early to call a search result, so we are not going to. Here is what we can already see.
The Rottnest Island day trip page moved from an average Google position of 17.7 to 9.1 and was shown 377 times against 192, comparing the 19 days before launch with the 19 days after.
The new game fishing page is indexed and is the page Google now shows for it. The new Jurien Bay page, which Google did not know about at launch, was shown 160 times in its first 19 days at an average position of 9.7. We will add the full before and after once the season gives us a fair window to compare.

What made it work

Two decisions did most of it. The first was designing every page around one action. Whether someone lands on Rottnest, game fishing or the homepage, the Check dates button is never more than a thumb away.
The second was building it in the open. Gabriel and his team saw the real pages on a staging copy, and their corrections went in the same day, so launch day was a yes, not a scramble.
Since launch the site has kept moving with the business: a new apparel page, a price update and changes to the Rottnest page for the season, each one staged first and then shipped.
