Google Ads management in Perth: what it costs and what you should get

What Google Ads management costs a Perth business, what the fee should cover, the questions to ask an agency, and when you only need a consultant.

If you are comparing quotes for Google Ads management in Perth, you have probably noticed they are hard to compare. One agency charges a flat fee, another a percentage of spend, a third bundles in landing pages, and some still call it AdWords management. This is how we think about it: what you are actually paying for, what a managed account should include, and how to tell whether the work is being done.

What Google Ads management costs in Perth

There are two separate costs, and a quote that blurs them is worth questioning.

  • Ad spend. Paid to Google from your own account, on your own card. You set the daily budget and you can change it whenever you like.
  • Management. What you pay a person or an agency to plan, build, track and optimise the campaigns.

Management fees in Perth are usually set one of three ways: a flat fee, a percentage of ad spend, or a mix of both. A percentage rewards the agency for spending more of your money, so ask what stops the budget creeping up. A flat fee should come with a clear scope, so you know what is and is not included.

We do not publish a single price for management, because the work in a new account is very different from the work in an inherited one that needs rebuilding. We read the account first and quote from what is actually in there. That review costs nothing. You can see how we run Google Ads management in Perth on our Google Ads page.

What the fee should cover

Whoever you hire, a managed account should include these five things. If one is missing, the fee is buying less than it looks like.

Conversion tracking that counts real enquiries

Google optimises towards whatever it is told is a conversion. If a page view or a button hover is counted as a lead, the account will chase those and report a great month. One conversion action per real event, a call, a form, a booking or a sale, checked before the budget moves.

A keyword list you can read

Broad keywords and loose match types spend money quickly on searches that only look related. A tight list with a strong negative list means a click costs money when the search describes the job.

Ads and landing pages that match

The ad makes a promise and the page has to keep it: same service, same suburb, same offer, and a form short enough to finish on a phone.

Regular work in the account

Search terms reviewed, negatives added, budgets moved towards what is producing enquiries. An account nobody has opened for a month is not being managed.

Reporting on enquiries and cost per enquiry

Clicks and impressions are easy to grow. What matters is how many enquiries came in, what each one cost, and whether that is getting better.

A Perth example: 1,100 enquiries from one campaign

Impact Dents is a paintless dent repair business in Perth. Their Google Ads account is one Search campaign running at around $30 a day, built narrow on purpose: a small keyword set, tight match types and an aggressive negative list.

1,100 tracked enquiries at $9.53 each
Deduplicated, 19/08/2025 to 18/08/2026, from one Google Ads Search campaign at around $30 a day. Click through rate over the same twelve months: 15.79%.

Nothing about that account is complicated. It works because a click only costs money when the search describes the job, and because every enquiry is counted once. The full numbers are in the Impact Dents case study. For an account that was fixed by cutting reach, not adding budget, see the physio clinic case study.

Six questions to ask before you sign

  • Whose name is the account in? It should be yours. If you leave, the account, the history and the data leave with you.
  • What counts as a conversion? Ask them to list each one. If they cannot, nobody has checked.
  • Who actually works in the account? The person on the sales call is often not the person doing the work.
  • How is the fee set, and what makes it go up?
  • Is there a lock-in? Our retainers are rolling, with no lock-in contract.
  • What will the report show? Enquiries and cost per enquiry, or clicks and impressions?

When you do not need management at all

If someone on your team already runs the account and mostly needs a second opinion, paying for full management is the wrong purchase. A Google Ads consultant in Perth reads the account with you, tells you what to change and writes the actions up for your person to do. Ours starts at $200 including GST, billed every 4 weeks, and you keep the account, the logins and the control.

And if people are not searching for what you sell yet, search ads have little to work with. That is usually a job for Facebook and Instagram ads, or for SEO in Perth if the demand is there but you are not showing up for it.

Common questions

Is AdWords management the same as Google Ads management?

Yes. Google renamed AdWords to Google Ads in 2018. It is the same platform, the same auction and the same account. An agency quoting for AdWords management in Perth is quoting for the work described here.

How long before Google Ads starts working?

Ads can show the day a campaign goes live, but the account needs data before it can be judged. We want three or more conversion cycles, usually four weeks or more, before setting or moving a target.

Can I manage Google Ads myself?

Yes, plenty of Perth businesses do. The two things that most often go wrong are conversion tracking that counts the wrong thing and keywords that match too broadly. If you want to keep running it yourself, a consulting call is a cheaper way to have both checked.
