Greenerscapes: the ads were switched off and the search traffic kept climbing

Greenerscapes is a Perth landscaping business: turf, reticulation, landscape design and living green walls. We ran their SEO from October 2025 to May 2026, with Google Ads running beside it. Both stopped in May. This page is about what the site has earned from Google since, with nobody working on it.

The situation

Greenerscapes had a good looking, technically sound website that Google was not sending many people to. Several pages were competing with each other for the same searches, and the pages for the services that matter most to the business, green walls and reticulation, were too thin to rank for much.
Most of the visitors who did arrive came from paid ads. That works while the ads are running and stops the day they do.
One limit to be upfront about. Google Search Console only holds data for this site from 08/12/2025, about two months after we started. So the tables on this page start from the first numbers Google recorded, not from before the work began.

What we did

We sorted out which page should answer which search, so pages stopped competing with each other. Then we built out the service pages properly and added the pages the site was missing: suburb pages for reticulation, turf and landscape design across Perth's northern suburbs, and plain advice pages that answer what people actually type into Google before they call a landscaper.
Those advice pages now do a lot of the work. These are the pages that brought in the most visitors from search.

The numbers

Clicks from Google search to greenerscapes.com.au, Australia only, in four periods. The work and the ads both stopped in May 2026, so the last two rows are a site nobody was working on.

Source and method. Google Search Console for greenerscapes.com.au, Australia only, read on 08/10/2026 for the period table and on 20/08/2026 for the search terms and the page one count. Clicks a month is the period total scaled to a 30.4 day month. The page one count is 104 terms without the business name that held an average position of ten or better, counting only terms shown at least 20 times. Page visits are from Google Analytics 4, 15/12/2025 to 19/08/2026. Average position got worse in the middle of the year because the site began showing for many more searches, a lot of them broad ones where it sits on page three, and that pulls the average down.

When the ads stopped

This is the part we think matters most. Google Ads was running at the start of the year and stopped completely in May. If the site had been leaning on ads, search visits would have dropped with them. They did not.

Paid search went from 123 visits a month to none. Organic search was at 104 that same month and reached 251 in September, with no ad spend behind it and no work being done on the site.
Source. Google Analytics 4 for greenerscapes.com.au, sessions by channel, read on 20/08/2026, with August and September added on 12/10/2026. We have not published enquiry numbers for this site. Its contact forms were hit by bursts of automated spam in February 2026, and we would sooner leave a number out than publish one we cannot stand behind.

What it shows

These are small numbers and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Greenerscapes is a local specialist, and most of its page one rankings are for searches that only a few people make each month. Plenty of them bring no clicks at all. The result comes from breadth: a lot of pages each answering one real question for one part of Perth.
September is also spring, which is lawn season, so part of the jump from January is the time of year. What the season does not explain is a site that kept growing through winter with the ads off and nobody working on it.
Rankings do not hold forever without upkeep. Competitors publish and pages age. But five months on, the work is still paying, and that is the difference between search traffic you have earned and traffic you rent.
